Terna Jogo is a photographer and artist who explores culture, memory, identity and heritage in her ongoing series Life In Stills. This project captures the rich textures and colours of Nigerian cuisine honouring both everyday dishes and celebratory rituals. With a background in fashion and portrait photography this series marks a departure from client facing work to develop an art practice as a method of maintaining a connection to her heritage. Jogo uses food as a medium to preserve stories and spark dialogue. Through an imaginative arrangement of food and material, captured always with sunlight, her images invite viewers to learn something new through the differences and familiarity of ingredients used across cultures.
Images from Series One have been exhibited at The Barbican Library, Somerset House and The Other Art Fair as well as featured in Native magazine. The project has also received support from ArtsCouncil England.
